ARCHAEOLOGIST ON HOLIDAY
An archaeologist on holiday checks into a seaside hotel with one suitcase and a quiet promise to rest. He sets down his field notebook and brushes the sand from his sleeves. In the closet, he hangs five shirts, each one carefully chosen. He wasn’t planning to work - but notes from the dig earlier softly beckons. Before the pull of work takes hold, he chooses a shirt, straightens his collar, splashes water on his face, and heads toward the amber glow of the bar downstairs.
