MY PRINT DESIGN PROCESS: STREAMLINED CREATIVITY, GUARANTEED ALIGNMENT
I believe in smart design that respects both the creative process and your timeline. My structured approach minimizes risk, maximizes creativity, and ensures the final prints you receive are exactly what your brand needs. My process is organized into three clear phases, each containing the key steps required for a professional, low-risk workflow.
PHASE 1: CONCEPTUAL EXPLORATION & DIRECTION
This is the exploratory stage where we shape the creative foundation.
• What I Do:
If you don’t have a clear direction yet, I begin with curated mood boards built from inspiration tears and any loose ideas or visual references you share. Once you select the boards you connect with, I translate those themes into rough AI-assisted concepts and early sketches. These include rough layout, color and motif ideas. If we’re working on a conversational print I might generate some motifs that speak to the story you are trying to tell.
If you already have a direction, I move directly into creating initial rough motifs, loose layouts, and directional sketches—focusing on mood, color, and composition rather than finished artwork, so you can get a broader sense of how your collection will look like as a whole.
• What’s Included:
– Mood boards (as needed)
– 10+ early concepts or sketches
– Optional additional concepts if alignment isn’t reached
• Your Outcome:
A clear shortlist of the top directions you feel strongest about.
• Goal:
Establish creative alignment before detailed development begins.
PHASE 2: REFINEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
This is where your chosen concepts become real prints.
• What I Do:
I refine motifs, develop cleaner compositions, build repeat structures, explore layout options, and begin shaping the print’s identity. I also explore color using your palette if available, and share in-progress updates so we stay aligned and avoid unnecessary revisions.
If you have Illustrator flats, I can mock the prints onto bodies to help evaluate scale and placement.
• What’s Included:
– Motif refinement and redraws
– Layout development
– Repeat building
– Color separation
– 3–5 colorways per print
– Mockups to show scale or placement
• Your Outcome:
Three fully developed print directions with refined artwork, repeat structure, and multiple colorways.
• Goal:
Build strong, production-ready designs while staying aligned through structured feedback.
PHASE 3: FINAL DELIVERY & HANDOFF
This stage packages and prepares everything for production.
• What I Do:
I finalize artwork, apply your final revisions and prepare everything according to commercial print specs. Files are delivered cleanly and professionally.
• What’s Included:
– One final revision per print (layout or color tweaks)
– Factory-ready files (300dpi PSDs + supporting assets)
– Organized delivery via WeTransfer
• Your Outcome:
A complete set of print-ready files that your mill, vendor, or internal design team can take directly into production.
• Goal:
A seamless, low-risk transition from concept to ready-to-produce assets.
WHY THIS PROCESS WORKS BETTER
• Risk Reduction: Most exploration happens upfront, reducing costly revision cycles.
• Efficiency: A structured workflow keeps timelines predictable.
• Collaboration: You stay involved in major checkpoints without getting pulled into unnecessary detail.
BOTTOM LINE
My goal is to operate as an extension of your creative team—bringing structure, intuition, and disciplined execution to your print pipeline. Whether you need one hero print or a full seasonal concept package, this process gives you a clear, low-risk path from idea to production-ready artwork.
